Hey girl, hey! This whole project is made mostly with found and repurposed items. A plastic plate and bowl from the Dollar Tree, pieces of fabric, an old paper doily, a piece from a rocking chair, and more! It sure was fun to put it all together and see it come to life!
Check out the video below or just follow along here for the steps to make your own.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Large plastic plate, small plastic bowl, floral frog lid, wood cubes, greenery
Amazon: Scrabble letters, Rub ‘n Buff, sanding sponge, Ranger Distress Oxide: Ground Espresso Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Liquid Sunshine, White Swan, Hey Sailor (blue)
Hobby Lobby: “Quilt” print fabric
Stash: Large paper doily, spindle
Thrifted: Burlap
Let’s make it!
By the way y’all, that spindle came from an old rocking chair that needed to be retired! I saved some of the pieces including this piece from the back. We will definitely be crafting with this later!

This was one plank of shiplap that my husband Dave to cut it in half for me, so it will be our surface for our project today.
I used craft sticks and hot glue to put them together. I added more hot glue on the edges of the craft sticks for extra security.

For the flower, I painted the base plate with a yellow that I mixed using Liquid Sunshine and White Swan from Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint. I painted the small bowl with Hey Sailor (blue), also from Debi’s.
I used Rub ‘n Buff (gold) on a floral frog that you can use as a lid to hold flowers in a Mason jar.
I added Rub ‘n Buff to the edge and sides of the blue bowl, then dry brushed some blue onto the edge of the yellow base plate.

A Ranger Distress Oxide ink pad is perfect for distressing! This one is in Ground Espresso.
Here’s how it’s going:

To put the flower together, I just hot glued each layer…

…and then popped it up with some small wood cubes from Dollar Tree. (I added more cubes by doubling them so the “stem” spindle would fit beneath the “flower”.)
I used the same “quilt” look fabric for the leaves. and offset the stem so I can add my Scrabble letters.

I added my Scrabble letters, some raffia and greenery, and it’s done! I love a cheerful project, and this one just makes me smile!

Let me know in the comments what you’ve created with “found” items! It’s fun to create with them!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
