Valentine’s Day “February 14” Sign

Hey y’all, hey! We are moving from Christmas to Valentines and spring, so I’m here for it! I came up with this fun project using a Dollar Tree sign and some other easy to find supplies!

Check out the video below, or follow along here for the steps.

Supplies:

Amazon: Scrabble letters, Posca paint pens Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Dollar Tree: Sign / surface

Stash: Bingo themed scrapbook paper, pink rick rack trim, black acrylic paint, corrugated cardboard

Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Petticoat Pink

Goodwill Outlet: Wood numbers

Note: I had originally planned to use a piece of burlap stamped “February”, but decided the black tiles were a better fit with the black numbers. The letters on the burlap in the supplies image were stamped with these stamps from Milton’s Daughter.

Let’s make it!

I used a “Gather here” sign from Dollar Tree, a sheet of scrapbook paper and some numbers from the Goodwill Outlet bins.

I took the inside from the frame and (should have) traced it onto a scrap of corrugated cardboard. (I didn’t think about tracing it until I had already cut it, but it all works, y’all!)

I spritzed the cardboard with water (this is the kind of cardboard with a rippled center) and let it sit while I painted my numbers. Next, I just peeled the layers apart, and that left a textured background.

I used some black acrylic paint to paint my numbers.

Next, I measured and cut my rick rack to fit the edges of my scrapbook paper, then glued it on.

That’s about when I decided I wanted the cardboard to have some color. I used my Petticoat Pink from Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint. It wasn’t too difficult to paint after adding the scrapbook paper, but it’s easier if you paint yours before.

I used my white Posca paint marker to make some fun dashes on the numbers.

Then I added some little beads to pop the numbers up. I just hot glued them on, easy peasy!

I considered a few options, but decided on these black Scrabble letters for the “February”.

And here we are! Valentine’s day is just around the corner!

I hope this inspires you to get crafty. Just use what you’ve got, and make something you will enjoy. Let me know in the comments what you might use on your Valentine project! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for hanging out,

XOXO-Erin
