Hey girl, hey! Today we are crafting with another new release from the June 2024 Lizzy and Erin Woodshop launch! This one is so much fun, y’all, and there are tons of ways to create with it. Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog to see how you might create one of your own.

Supplies:

Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: USA Sign
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design DIary DIY paint: Hey Sailor (blue), White Swan, Marquee (red)
Amazon: DAP Rapid Fuse glue, Posca Paint Pens, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Dollar Tree: Adhesive tile (I just used the adhesive part to hold my pieces on while painting. The tile can still be used for a later craft project.)
Stash: Napkin
Let’s make it!
I painted the base with Hey Sailor (blue), then dried it with my heat tool.

I used the adhesive side of a Dollar Tree tile to hold my letters in place so I could paint them. (The tile can still be used for a later craft). Then I put Mod Podge, followed by white paint.

Let’s talk about fire, y’all.
First: Don’t do it if you don’t have a plan. Have a bowl of water, an extinguisher or your own personal fireman waiting nearby! Girl, I’m not responsible if you burn down your she shed!
Here’s how I did my letters: After painting them, I applied just one ply of my paper napkin over the letters and smooshed them down.
I trimmed the excess napkin off of the letters and then lit the edges. The fire just follows the edge but won’t burn the actual letters.
Please do not try this without precautions. Seriously! Just use a sanding block to get those edges off. I actually still had to sand some spots even after using the fire method.
This concludes today’s fire safety lesson.

For the next step, I put the line of stars (they are all connected) onto the adhesive and painted them with Marquee (red), then for the crackle effect I applied school glue, dabbed the glue with a paint brush (don’t paint, just dab to distribute), then while still wet, added white paint.
I used my heat tool to dry, and that’s when you’ll see the crackle.

I sanded the base down a bit before gluing the pieces on, then used DAP glue to adhere the pieces on.

I used a pencil eraser to make white dots, but needed to go back in with a paintbrush to fill them in. Next, I used my Posca paint pen to make red dots and an outline to my stars.

And here’s the finished project! It sure is festive, y’all!

I hope you will try this for your July decor. Here’s the link for our woodshop so you can have one of your own! Let me know in the comments how you might finish yours!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
