Umbrella Upcycle!

Hey y’all, hey! I saw this idea maybe on a display or on Pinterest, I’m not sure, but I just have to try it with an old quilt top. I’ve had the idea for a while, and now it’s time to make it happen! It’s just decorative, and I’m thinking of adding some little lights inside. It would be so pretty in a corner, or as one of our friends said, a great prop for a photographer. You could also use it as decor for a spring party or for a baby nursery.

Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog to see how it turns out!

Thrifted: Umbrella, quilt top

Let’s make it!

I found this parasol / umbrella at a thrift store. I just pulled the fabric off and it is ready to recover! I did add some hot glue to that white circle thing on top, just because it looked like it needed to be there. I took the red cap off and will paint it and put it back on when I’m finished.

I just laid out the “pattern”, which is the orange fabric that was originally on the umbrella, and laid my quilt top over it to make sure I could cover the whole umbrella.

I began by just gluing the quilt to each rib of the umbrella. Some of the fabric was too long and some too short, so I just trimmed or added pieces as needed.

I folded down some of the edges that kinda spilled over, and put a dot of hot glue just to hold it, then glued all areas that needed a patch. Next, I painted the original little red cap with my Toolie Art paint marker.

Our friend Ms. Diane suggested lace trim along the edge, so we’re doing it!

Girl, I love how this turned out! I can’t wait to add lights to it. Let me know in the comments what you think! I appreciate you!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
