Hey girl, hey! Today we are turning some plain ‘ole Dollar Tree signs into a beautiful piece of home decor art! This was so much fun to create, and as hot as it is outside this summer, we needed a refreshing fall project!
Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for all the steps!

Supplies:

Amazon: Mod Podge, Gator Microzip Sander, Ranger Distress Oxide Ground Espresso ink, Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Dollar Tree: Fall themed signs, wall tile, Tumbling Tower game blocks (like little Jenga)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Gypsy Green, Faded Burlap, White Swan
Michaels: Modern Farmhouse 12X12 paper pad (Gifted to me from friend Teresa Cook)
Stash: Raffia and greenery
Let’s make it!
The surface I’m crafting with is just slightly different from the one in the supply photo, but that style would also work perfectly for this project. I’m thinking I’ll make a tray with the other one and add handles and some risers on the bottom!
Y’all, the faux beaded trim on the edge is what sold me on these signs. I knew they would be gorgeous with a little paint and some love!
For this one, I sanded the glitter off and painted the surface with Gypsy Green. I pulled the twine hanger from the back then used my heat gun to separate the pumpkins.

The pumpkins: I removed the staples from one of the pumpkins with pliers, sanded both of them and used Mod Podge to adhere scrapbook paper to one.

Oops! I traced my pumpkin backwards onto the scrapbook paper, so I cut off the stem and now I’m going to wind twine around it. That’s an easy fix!

For the next pumpkin, I traced the shape onto my Dollar Tree tile (the right way this time!) and cut the shape out. I used the least amount of hot glue to adhere it onto the pumpkin because heat melts the plastic tiles.
I painted the tile with Faded Burlap and then dried it with my heat tool (carefully so I didn’t melt the tile), then dry brushed it with White Swan. I hot glued twine on the back of the stems and wrapped them.

I dry brushed White Swan on my surface and all around the edge, then dried it with my heat tool. I used my Ranger Distress Oxide Ground Espresso ink to stain the faux beaded trim and also to highlight the embossed parts of the pumpkin with the tile.
I hot glued the pumpkins together, glued on the raffia and greenery and added them to the surface with hot glue.
TIP: To highlight, just gently touch the tile with the ink sponge, being careful not to press or smudge.

And for the final step, I hot glued the Tumbling Tower game blocks (like little Jenga blocks from Dollar Tree) onto the back of my pumpkins and then hot glued them to the surface.

Y’all, just a little bit of this and that and wow! We have some beautiful fall decor! Add a beautiful stand and she’s ready for fall.
