Hey girl, hey! Today we are making a thrifted picture frame into a place to keep all kinds of pretty things. I’m thinking love notes, Easter themed cards, Christmas, whatever the season calls for. I’m using just the thrifted frame, chicken wire, a lace panel and some clothes pins to create a beautiful display to enjoy keepsakes year round.
Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog for all the steps!

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan, Dark and Decrepit (black)
Erin Elizabeth Inspired: Custom Lil Hickabilly paint brush
Amazon: Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Goodwill Outlet bins: Ornate frame, lace tablecloth
Home Depot / Lowes: Chicken wire
Let’s make it!
I’m starting out with this beautiful ornate frame and some Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint. I’m using White Swan and might use Faded Burlap. (I didn’t use the Faded Burlap, but it would look great also!)
I don’t know the history of this frame, but oh, if it could talk! It is just gorgeous, y’all!

I used my Lil Hickabilly paint brush to paint the frame, leaving some of the detail brown so it shows through. I painted the inside and outside edges too.

I used a wet napkin to remove some of the paint and bring out more of the detail.

I used black paint to darken the chicken wire so it would show up better against the lace. I just dabbed it on, then dried it with my heat tool.
Oh, and one of our friends helped me out while I was planning the next step…

I cut a piece of the lace and used my staple gun to add the chicken wire. Then I hot glued the lace to the back and trimmed it to fit the frame.

I cut two panels from a scrapbooking paper pad and clipped them on with clothespins. You might want to use small clothespins and even add a little something like hearts or bunnies on the ends.
Now we have beautiful decor that can change with the occasions or seasons!

Before we go… let’s talk prices. I got this huge gold frame from Goodwill Outlet bins back when all frames were .25 if they didn’t have any artwork or something in them. Those days are gone, y’all! They weigh them now, but they are still a bargain!

Let me know in the comments how you might craft in a beautiful frame like this gold one! I’m saving it for something special, so stay tuned. I appreciate each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
