Hey girl, hey! Today we’re giving this thrifted cane chair a makeover, and it’s one of my favorite things to do. It was a bargain at $25, especially with all those details. I typically don’t want to spend that much on a chair, but it’s perfect for a corner of my living room. Did you know that Lizzy and I have a furniture painting course? Meanwhile, let’s turn this thrifted chair into an elegant one! Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for all the steps.

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Faded Burlap
Lizzy and Erin Designs: Lil Hickabilly paintbrushes
Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store: Chair
Amazon: Waverly Antique Wax Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Let’s make it!
I’m starting out with Faded Burlap. It’s a clay based chalk paint from Debi’s Design Diary. I also have Waverly Antique Wax (brown) as well as some black and white paint. I’ll be using some of each until I get the color just right!
You’ll see brown on the chair in the pictures below. It’s actually Waverly Antique Wax with just a little black mixed in. Next, I just went back over it with a very light coat of Faded Burlap, and I kept going until it was the color I wanted.

It’s always a good day when I have a paint brush in my hands and I’m hanging out with friends like you! Let me know in the comments if you might try this DIY on a piece of your furniture. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
XOXO-Erin
