Thrift Store Quilty Treasures

Hey girl, hey! Today I’m pulling out some treasures that were tossed into the thrift stores. Yes, one of the quilts is ratty and torn, but there are some beautiful areas of it that are perfect for crafting as you’ll see in the video. Today we are going to craft from a bag of hexagon pieces and we’ll also be using a doily and a thrifted picture frame for a pretty wall hanging.

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog to see how some discarded treasures found new life!

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint:

Thrifted: Picture frame, hexagon quilt pieces, embroidery hoop, crocheted doily

Amazon: Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Let’s make it!

Here’s what we’re working with… and there may or may not have been a bug situation (see video) that made everyone itchy.

I stretched the hexy piece into a thrifted embroidery hoop and hot glued the pieces on the back that went over the hoop.

Well, that was easy! And you can add other things like lace or beads hanging from the top.

Now let’s make the framed doily.

I removed the backing and decided to save the picture that was in the frame for a future craft. I cleaned the glass and chose a sheet of blue scrapbook paper for the doily background. I used Mod Podge to add the scrapbook paper to the board backing and trimmed the excess paper, then dried it with my heat tool. I put tiny dabs of hot glue to hold the doily onto the board.

I placed everything back into the frame and hot glued craft sticks onto the back for extra security.

And we’re done! This was a fun and simple crafting day. Sometimes that’s all we need to enjoy being creative!

Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
