St. Patrick’s Day Treat Bags

Hey girl, hey! The time change means spring is definitely coming, y’all! I almost lost hope! Those dreary days with overcast skies and cold are about to be history. And along with spring comes St. Patrick’s Day, and THAT day comes with classroom activities and parties!

My son Finn has 20 kids in his class, and I hope they each will enjoy these little St. Patty’s Day treats. They are so festive and I can’t wait to make them with you! Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog and see how they come together.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Rolo candy, gold coins, individually wrapped rainbow lollipops, rainbow garland, black pots and gold shred. Green striped paper straws are from Hobby Lobby (I’m pretty sure!)

Stash: Twine

Later on, you’ll see I also used kraft shredded paper. I have plenty of this for our packaging from the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop, and I had the clear bags in my stash. I put the entire project into the clear bags. (You can get treat bags from Dollar Tree.)

The gold Decorative Shreds were actually in a box with Christmas items, and I had to dig in to find them! The Rolo candies would have been cheaper at Walmart, and the coins are just play money. Dollar Tree didn’t have the chocolate coins, but Hobby Lobby usually has them.

Let’s make it!

Y’all, I cut this rainbow from a paper garland. It also had horseshoes on it, but they were big so I didn’t use them. I cut each piece in half with my pinking shears to get two pieces out of each one rainbow, and I’ll tuck the cloud side in to the “pot of gold”.

I cut these green striped straws in half and hot glued a coin to each one. I have had these straws for a while, but I think I got them at Hobby Lobby for Finn’s birthday.

First, I “should have” tied my twine around the pot, but I thought of it later on this first treat. So, I hot glued the cloud part of the rainbow onto the back of the pot and added the twine after.

I didn’t have a lot of the gold shred, so I put kraft shredded paper to fill the pot first, then added some of the gold.

Then I just added the candy, the coin straw, some coins and a lollipop, then put the whole treat into a bag and tied the top with twine.

This was fun to make, and I’m hoping Finn’s classmates enjoy them! Let me know in the comments what you think! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
