Hey y’all, hey! I ventured out to the woods and braved the misty rain and bugs to collect treasures to make this beautiful spruce pot for our porch. Our friend Ms. Janet Idziak suggested it’s a “porch pot” and I like that because “spruce pot” sounds too fancy! I’ve seen them on social media and they are pretty expensive, so I figured we could make one of our own. Having braved the woods, I’m pretty sure I’m a lumberjack now AND a hunter and gatherer! Who knew? And girl, you know I love thrifting, and this was a huge score. Most everything was thrifted from mother nature!
This is beautiful on a porch or used as a centerpiece, but how about making them to gift? Whether big or small, you can add a bow and maybe some picks for color and accents, and you’ve created something special.
Check out the videos below (the first one is the hunting and gathering) or follow along here on the blog for all the details!

Here’s the hunting part! If I see a wild animal, I’m gonna drop it like it’s hot and run. I already saw a stick that looked like an anaconda…
Let’s put it together!

Stash: Christmas ornaments and picks
Let’s make it!
I brought my husband’s truck and a wagon to carry my thrifted forest finds, and I picked things up from the ground that had already fallen. It was a beautiful walk, but I kept hearing things that spooked me! Check out the picture of the beaver dam, he’s been working overtime.

Here’s the beaver dam and me loading the truck with all of my finds!

I didn’t find a lot of colorful pieces so I grabbed some picks with balls, berries and some squiggly sticks. I used a planter filled with dirt that I already had, so we’ll call that upcycled!
There’s a piece of driftwood that my son Finn found, so it went in the middle. We are pretending it is birch, and trusting the process, girl!

Just keep filling!
It’s time to add some of the picks and ornaments. Those red berries and glittery pine cones were on something else so I just attached them to skewers.

It’s time to make a bow! It’s ok, you can say, “Oh no!” Because who even knows how it will turn out?

But y’all! I think she turned out really stinkin’ cute! I just used some picks that didn’t make it to the tree this year, added a few balls and badabing! Here she is!

Let me know in the comments if you are making a porch pot / spruce pot this year! I appreciate each and every one of you.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
