Spring Garden Fence

Hey girl, hey! I was inspired by Pinterest to make this. l couldn’t find who made it first, but I’m going to put my own touches on it!

Supplies:

Lowes or Home Depot: 4ft. Wood Slats (5 gallon paint sticks would work also!)

Tin Snips

Debi”s Design Diary DIY Paint: Dark and Decrepit, White swan

Lizzy and Erin: “Be You” Custom Paint Brush

Lizzy and Erin: Water Girl Continuous Spray Bottle

Dollar Tree: Bird

Michaels: greenery

Milton’s Daughter IOD stamps (Use LIZZYERIN10 for 10% off!)

Stash: Hang tag, napkin

Amazon: Raffia, twine, Xacto knife, sanding sponge, Mod Podge Click here to see these and more of my very favorite crafting and decorating supplies! (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Let’s make it, y’all!

Ok, let’s talk about those tin snips. I had to use them because the blade on my mini table saw is dull, y’all! Anyway, I snipped the wood slats in half and also cut points onto the tops. I used my Xacto blade to smooth the points, but the tin snips did most of the work.

And did y’all know, this wood was free? It was! I found it in the back at Lowes and asked the cashier, and sure enough, no charge! We can’t be more thrifty than free, can we?

I cut the slats into three two-foot pieces, and two one-foot pieces.

Spritzing the wood before staining helps to make the wood grain show through. I cannot recommend this Water Girl Continuous Spray bottle enough, y’all! It is just right for the job, and you can get one from our shop here!

Spritzing has been done, so now I’m putting on the Dark and Decrepit stain.

Next is to whitewash with our Custom Lizzy and Erin Brushes! I used “Be You”, and y’all these brushes are on POINT!

Besides my favorite paint brush, I also used White Swan from Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint. It is great for creating this weathered fence post look!

With all the pieces stained and painted, I hot glued them and clipped them together with clothespins until fully dry.

Just a bit of sanding here and there, and boom! It looks like a real fence panel!

Next, I added the greenery.

And now for the bow. Just make an X with ribbons, burlap, raffia, whatever you have. Tie them right through the middle with twine. I tied mine, flipped it over and tied it again for extra security!

Give the ends a trimmy-trim and hot glue it to the greenery.

I “aged” this tag simply by spritzing my paint brush (the one I used with the Dark and Decrepit stain) and dabbing the brush on the tag.

Then I used some Iron Orchid Designs alphabet stamps to print “Hello”, and some stamps from my stash to print “spring”. I like how it turned out all stained and rustic!

My friends suggested I add a bird to the top. I had this one from Dollar Tree, and all it needed was a coat of Mod Podge and a little bit of a single ply from a napkin. The print from the napkin matched so well!

I think the bird fits this perfectly! I hope you make one to welcome spring into your home!

Let me know in the comments what you think of this fun craft! I read all comments and appreciate every one.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

XOXO-Erin
