Hey girl, hey! I’m home from Texas, where I got to see Lizzy and her family plus NEW baby Willow, who was born on Monday the 14th! She is absolutely adorable and I wish we lived closer so I could snuggle her some more. I could have held her 24/7, just watching her!
But I’m back and ready to create, y’all. These bleak January days sure make me long for some spring color, so I’m making a little basket of flowers to add some cheer to our Washington state winter. Check out the video below to make some of your own, or follow along here for all the details.
Note: Somehow the settings changed on my Facebook live and I couldn’t mirror my camera, so things are backwards today!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Rectangular sign, metal hanging basket, three metal flowers
Hobby Lobby: Napkins
Amazon: UHU glue, Waverly Antique Wax, Rub n’ Buff, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan
Stash: Greenery, raffia, beads, craft sticks, “Blessed” tag
Let’s make it!
I used a rectangle sign from Dollar Tree that says, “Gather”. I removed the wood word and sanded the surface down a little. I painted it with White Swan and used my heat tool to dry it. I painted the trim with Waverly Antique Wax.
I spread out the petals on the flowers just enough to add paint, Mod Podge and the napkins. I first painted them with White Swan, then painted again with Mod Podge and added one ply of napkin to each petal. (Separate the layers of napkin and use the printed layer on your project.) I pressed the single ply onto the petals with my paintbrush, then trimmed the excess. I used a lighter to burn the rest of the excess off. (Be sure to use every precaution if you are going to use fire! Have a water source nearby, and protect your hands and eyes.)
I dried the flowers with my heat tool and added Rub ‘n Buff to the edges.

I went a little heavy on the gold Rub ‘n Buff on the flower on your right, but you can go as light or dark as you want!

I filled the basket with paper scraps, added some hot glue, then added moss and greenery. I used hot glue (immediate hold) and UHU glue (like E-6000) to adhere the basket to the surface. Hot glue doesn’t hold well with metal, so the UHU will keep the pieces together.
I used hot glue for the greenery, and added blocks under one of the flowers to raise it up a little, and hot glue plus UHU to keep them in place. I added a button in the centers, and a raffia bow on the front of the basket. I also added a “Blessed” tag to the front.
I added a beaded hanger to the back. To make it, I just strung an even number of beads onto twine with one end knotted, then knotted the other end, glued the ends to the back, and covered them with pieces of craft sticks.

And now we have a little bit of spring in our winter! I hope you enjoyed this craft and let me know in the comments what you might use for yours! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
