Spring Bunnies Door Hanger

Hey girl, hey! Today we are crafting with Dollar Tree aluminum pans and a napkin! This craft is just what we need as we all long for the beauty of spring! It’s an easy craft that is inspired by Barb at the Shabby Tree.

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog for all the steps.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Two aluminum pans

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan

Amazon: Super Moss Aspen Excelsior Grass, Ranger Distress Oxide / Ground Espresso ink, Mod Podge, Folk Art Sage Shadow paint, makeup sponges Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

HomeGoods: Napkin

Let’s make it!

I carefully cut the edges from two aluminum pans, and I do mean carefully! Those are sharp edges, y’all. I painted one pan with White Swan from Milton’s Daughter and dried it with my heat tool. I covered it with Mod Podge so I can add the napkin next.

I cut a panel from the napkin and separated the layers to use only the one layer with the bunnies image. I patted it onto the wet Mod Podge.

I placed parchment paper over the design and ironed it to help it adhere. I decided to fold over the top and make scallops using my scissors. I painted the scallops with Folk Art Sage Shadow paint, and it took a few coats. I folded the scalloped edge down to create the border and used my Ranger Distress Oxide ink pad on the edges.

TIP: Scallop the bottom also, and tack it to another surface if you want a different finished craft.

I hot glued the sides and bottom, creating a pouch for my flowers and filled it with paper. I topped it with Aspen Excelsior Grass from Amazon (link above), and secured it with hot glue.

TIP: Be careful not only for the sharp edges, but also hot glue on aluminum is HOT!

I decided to add green to the edges using my makeup sponge, then dried it with my heat tool. I used a strip of fabric for the hanger, frayed the edges and tied a knot on both ends, then hot glued it to the inside edges of the pouch.

I added green moss that actually hid the excelsior grass, but it’s all good, y’all. Sometimes we pivot when we craft, right? I used cream colored floral picks for the flowers and it’s done! This will be great as a door hanger or just displayed on a shelf.

Let me know in the comments what you’re crafting for spring! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
