Hey y’all, hey! Today we are making a spooky yard stake / totem pole inspired by TikTok. Come hang out here or check out the video below to join in the fun.

Supplies:
Dollar Tree: Wood cutouts
Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Summer Crush
Stash: various paints; black, white, purple, green, gray
Let’s make it!
This is a simple, and pretty basic craft, y’all! All of the wood cutouts came from the Dollar Tree, and I used paint I already had. The idea is to stack the pieces on top of each other to create a Halloween display for your yard, or as Mr. Erin calls it: a totem pole!

Y’all know I love Summer Crush (orange) paint from Debi’s Design Diary, right? Maybe that’s why I did the pumpkin first! Next, I painted the ghost white, and that’s all these two needed!
TIP: Be sure to get your paint in all the nooks and crannies.

Now for the witch: I wasn’t planning on getting too detailed, but y’all, our friends on the live said she needed hair and stuff.
I painted her face green and got a little carried away at the top, but the black for the hat will cover it just fine. Did anyone see a witch sitting by me on the struggle bus? Painting features on a witch is not my first or second language, but here we go….
Her hat and cauldron are black and her robe is purple. I put a bunch of swirls and dots to represent the “bubbles”. Her stick that she is stirring with is gray.

The house is simply gray with some dry brushed black to make it extra spooky.

Once everything was painted and dried (I used my heat tool for drying), I decided how I wanted them stacked, then stapled the pieces onto a stake that I had painted white.

And here are some close ups!

Even though we don’t have trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, I will be putting a coat of Polycrylic over this project so it can go outside on my porch.
Here are some fun tips: Make it extra spooky by drilling holes along the bottom of the cauldron and adding orange lights. Add some spooky gauze to the ghost’s arms so it will look like he’s flying. Put crinkled aluminum foil behind the house windows. Use a small bundle of lights in each of the pumpkin’s eyes so they will glow.

By the way, I’m holding a pumpkin I made out of mortar mix! Be sure to click here and see how it turned out. Let me know in the comments below what you might do to make this extra fun and spooky!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
