Hey girl, hey! This tin with a raised design was a great find, and turned out so pretty! It probably held fruitcake in its first life, but I’m planning to use mine to store my buttons in.
Check out the video link below, or just follow along here for the steps!

Supplies:

Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store: Tin (was only $3)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Letterpress Grey, Bohemian Blue
Amazon: Deco Earth paint, sanding sponge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Let’s make it!
The folks at Deco Earth sent me some paint to try, and I actually like it better than the Apple Barrel paints. I also used Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint for the main colors. You can see I’ve started painting the raised design on the lid. I just followed the design, so no great art talent was needed!

It’s coming together!

I used Letterpress Grey from Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint for the vase. I really like it!

I used my sanding sponge to sand just enough to bring out some highlights.

You can see the difference in the flowers before sanding and after:

I used Bohemian Blue from Debi’s Design Diary for the outside of the lid.

I used Bohemian Blue on the bottom also, then dried it with my heat tool. I sanded it a bit to bring out that pattern, and boom! I think it’s beautiful, y’all!

I also sanded the ring around the top.

This project was so much fun. I love seeing an otherwise discarded item get a new life, don’t you? Let me know in the comments what you might store in an old tin. I appreciate all of your comments!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
