Hey girl, hey! Today we are making a Santa ornament into something of BEAUTY! You’ll want to make one of these for your Christmas display, table decor or as a gift to share! It’s a $4 ornament that looks like a million bucks. The idea came from a video our friend Kathy Bo saw on YouTube called Our Upcycled Life. I think y’all are gonna love making this! Think of upcycling things you already have before buying new. You can use this technique and enjoy a whole new display!

Supplies:

Amazon: Antique Gold Rub n Buff Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Little Black Dress (black)
Dollar Tree: Candle holder
Let’s make it!
I had this Santa ornament from a while back. I bought it from Walmart and it’s going to look a little crazy until we get it all painted! The candle stand is from Dollar Tree. I painted them and then dried them with my heat tool.
Trust the process…
FYI: It’s been a while since I bought mine so I don’t know what Santa costs now!

When you use Rub n Buff, remember that a little goes a long way! The only problem with Rub n Buff is once you use it you’re gonna want to put it on everything… lamps, figurines, any decor…but have some restraint, girl!
Before I jumped up to Rub n Buff my stair rails (just kidding!) I used a paint brush to put it on the front of the Santa. But then I just used my hand to put it on the back, and I kinda liked the back better, so I put more black on the front. It’s just paint, so we can do what we want, right?

Let’s Rub n Buff the candle holder and attach our Santa!
I just used my finger to apply the Rub n Buff to the glass candle holder, and it was done. Time to add the Santa to the stand. I had to cut a hole in the bottom (don’t look, girl), and I got a dowel and a craft stick and glued them inside. I also used floral foam inside the candle holder. This was tricky, but it worked out ok.

You can either paint that part on the back that shows floral foam or put a ribbon around it. Just make sure Santa is centered on the candle holder while his glue dries.

And we have a beautiful upcycled decor piece to be enjoyed year after year!

Let me know in the comments what you think of our project today! I appreciate each and every one of you.
