Supplies:

Amazon: Waverly Antique Wax, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan
Stash: Floral wire, spool
Let’s make it!
I traced his hat onto a piece of hymnal sheet and distressed it with Waverly Antique Wax, then painted the beard with White Swan. I painted his face and then the small pieces for his eyebrows and mustache with a cream colored paint.

I used Waverly Antique Wax for the hat brim and to darken the edges of Santa’s hat, mustache and beard just a bit. I sanded down the edges of the Santa and the pieces, then used a damp paper towel and wiped over the Waverly, giving the project a primitive look.
TIP: you can use a brown stamp pad to add some age to the edges.

I dry brushed white onto the hat brim, then glued it on with DAP Rapid Fuse glue.

I’m so excited with this step, y’all! Our friends on my live suggested I “splatter” the project by flicking a craft stick against a paint brush with some brown paint. I love this effect!
TIP: You can also put a little paint on a toothbrush and flick it or put a bit of paint on a paintbrush and tap it against another paintbrush. Practice on a scrap piece of paper to see how heavy you want the splatter.

I added a wire hanger and curled it a little, then a spool at the top.

I put a tiny bit of pink for his cheeks and used a paint pen to make black dots for his eyes. A couple of stars, a few red buttons later, and look how cute he is!
