Primitive Pumpkin Patch in a Muffin Pan

Hey girl, hey! Who doesn’t love a pumpkin patch? I know I do, but what if it’s raining on pumpkin patch day? I got you! Just make your own! This is a Dollar Tree craft that you can enjoy throughout fall, and the best part is you don’t even have a big mess of pumpkins on your porch after the season!

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog. It’s going to be fun!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Cupcake pan, clip-on pumpkins, Spanish moss, fall leaves, chalkboard paint, berry Garland

Michaels: Folk Art Painted Finishes light rust paint

Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Letterpress (gray)

Amazon: Rusted star, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Be sure to check this link out: it’s one I made earlier, and also the inspiration for our project today. The idea came from our friend Shawnda (Shawanda!) Stone. I saw one on Pinterest and decided to try this today for fall.

Let’s make it!

I painted my muffin pan with Dollar Tree chalk paint, then used Folk Art light rust and dabbed on some Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint in Letterpress to give it a primitive look. (The paint is still wet in these images.)

TIP: Use chalk paint or mix your acrylic paint with Mod Podge if you don’t have chalk paint. Acrylic paint by itself won’t stick to metal very well.

Once the paint dried (I used my heat tool), I began adding Dollar Tree Spanish moss. I just hot glued some in to each muffin cup.

I put some stain on the leaves and the little tag to make them look a bit primitive also.

Here’s the thing: moss, leaves, pumpkins. At first I forgot to add the leaves but the pumpkins came up easily enough so I could add them in.

Lizzy said to get acrylic paint markers, not oil. She recommended Posca but I had already ordered these. They worked well for writing on the wood tag!

For the hanger, I used a strip of fabric and just twisted it into a rope, then hot glued it to the back.

I absolutely love how this turned out y’all, and now my wheels are turning for some Christmas inspiration! Thanks to our friend Shawnda and Pinterest for the inspiration.

Did y’all try this craft yet? It was so much fun creating it! Let me know in the comments what you think!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
