Hey girl, hey! I got this idea from Mikey at Crafty Guys Co, and I decided to make a similar one. We have lots of friends who just love primitive crafts, and this one is spot on! Anyone can create this patriotic gem, just grab a thrifted frame, some sticks, muslin and paint, and you’re halfway there!

Supplies:

Thrifted: Framed picture

Let’s make it!
I used some ribbon with a stars pattern and I’m sewing buttons on to it. I cut some sticks to fit and painted over the image in the frame with navy blue from Deco Earth paint. Once it was painted, I dried it with my heat tool.
I used Deco Earth’s Red Maple for the red “stripes” and Waverly White Wax for the white ones. When they were all painted, I dry brushed them with Waverly Antique Wax to make them more rustic, then dried them with my heat tool.
I used hot glue to add the “stripes” and the stars panel.

And here’s our craft today!

I hope you enjoyed our project! Let me know in the comments what primitive crafts you’ve made. I appreciate each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
