Plush Bunny Framed Portrait

Hey girl, hey! I am loving the 3D portraits so much that I just HAD to create this one with a bunny that was gifted to me. It’s just a little bunny, so I found a small, ornate frame at Dollar Tree to put her in. Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog to see how I transformed the gold frame into this beautiful blue, and this little bunny into an adorable spring portrait!

By the way, we will be doing the March 2025 Lizzy and Erin Woodshop release next week! Be sure to check it out, either HERE or on the blog!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Gold frame

Amazon: Deco Earth Paint: pink, Waverly Antique Wax, Waverly white paint, Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Bohemian Blue

Gifted: Stuffed bunny, wire framed glasses

Stash: Lace

Let’s make it!

I removed the backing from the frame and painted over the gold with Bohemian Blue. I painted two coats, carefully drying in between (it is plastic, so a heat tool could melt it.) I used white paint from Waverly to go back over it with the same brush (with blue on it) and dry brushed it to make a lighter shade, then dried it.

Next, I used my sanding sponge to bring back a little of the gold.

I painted the backing with white, and wiped it off in neat streaks. I went with a seasoned chalkboard look.

Ok, we were all a little freaked out that the bunny head needed to be separated from the body, so I cut it off camera. But girl, it will be alright! Trust the process! This bunny is so cute, and she was ready to take one for the team!

I glued the chalkboard looking background to the frame’s backing, and set it aside. I needed the bunny’s stuffing to stay intact, so I put hot glue on the open end to seal it. Once the glue set over the stuffing, I put more hot glue on and stuck her onto the surface.

I put just a little bit of pink paint inside her ears, then glued her ears to the top.

TIP: To cover the “business” part of the neck, our friends on the live video suggested using lace, moss, ribbon or a string of pearls.

Test driving the eyeglasses!

The lace is around her neck and the glasses are hot glued on! We have a finished portrait! She is so stinkin’ cute, y’all!

Let me know in the comments if this is going on your to-do list! I can imagine all sorts of stuffed animals, reindeer at Christmas, teddy bears or giraffes for a nursery, the list goes on and on!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate each and every one of you!

XOXO-Erin
