Ping Pong Balls Chunky Easter Bunny

Hey girl, hey! This little bunny just makes me smile! Can you believe she is made mostly with ping pong balls? She was so much fun to create.

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog for all the steps!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Two packs of ping pong balls, sign, burlap flowers, greenery, floral wire

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Apothecary, Faded Burlap, White Swan

Hobby Lobby: “Happy Easter” sign

Lowes: Small wood shims

Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax

Stash: Raffia, skewers

Let’s make it!

First, I checked out how the shims fit onto the surface. I left a little space at the top and bottom, and there’s just a little bit of space on the sides. It was almost a perfect fit!

I spritzed the wood shims with water, then painted them with Waverly Antique Wax. Next, I used Apothecary from Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint, and sanded each one just enough for the brown to show.

I used hot glue to attach the shims to my surface, and here’s how it’s going!

Here’s how I’m using the ping pong balls from Dollar Tree. They will shape the bunny head. I needed to attach them to a skewer so I could paint them, so I used my hot glue gun to melt holes in each end of the balls.

I painted them with Faded Burlap, then carefully dried them with my heat tool (carefully, because they can melt), then I painted on just some touches of White Swan.

Next, I put the painted balls on my floral wire to shape the bunny head.

I didn’t end up using these ears, because they were just a little small for this project.

But all you have to do is draw the shape on fabric with your hot glue, place the pipe cleaner (chenille stem) on the fabric and cut around it.

I decided to use these beads for the ears. I just strung them onto the floral wire and then wired them to the bunny head. I left them natural and unpainted.

I used hot glue to attach the bunny head and ears to the surface.

TIP: Remember that the ping pong balls will melt if you use too much hot glue! They are so lightweight that it doesn’t take much at all.

I added some lambs ear leaves and some flowers from Dollar Tree, also a bow and raffia. The “Happy Easter” wood letters came from Hobby Lobby.

I’m probably going to add some more pink flowers (these were all I had on hand) and maybe jazz up those ears a bit. They look a little small to me!

But here she is, y’all! Even though I want to touch it up a bit, I think it’s just adorable!

Let me know in the comments what you think of our little bunny head. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
