Hey girl, hey! I hopped on Pinterest for some inspiration and boy, did I find it. I couldn’t find the original post, and wish I could credit the person who came up with this! We’ve done these type of projects before, but I think this is a first using paper for the flowers. Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog to see how it all came together!

Supplies:

Amazon: Rusty star, Apple Barrel paint: Toasted Marshmallow, Ranger Ground Espresso ink Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Thrifted: Wood plank
Dollar Tree: Tumbling Tower Game blocks, small doilies, makeup sponges, greenery
Other: Corrugated cardboard, paper, fabric strips
Let’s make it!
I love how this board has that aged look with the nail holes and the red faded paint. It’s just right for today’s craft.
I used corrugated cardboard to cut out the shape of a mason jar. I had one from Dollar Tree that I used to trace the jar, then wet the cardboard and let it sit a little while before removing the top layer so the corrugated middle would show.

I cut strips of the brown paper to use as the flower and crumpled them up into a ball. Next I unraveled each of the balls of paper and twisted some on the end. Then I used hot glue to form a little ball at that end. I created a pinwheel shape by twisting, wrapping and gluing each strip until I had a flower shape. I used red and blue paint to paint the flowers.

I used the smallest from Dollar Tree’s pack of doilies (they come in several sizes). I cut the center out and cut into the edge to make one long piece. I crumpled it up like the brown paper, then unraveled it and hot glued it to the bottom of the flower. I cut off the excess.
I repeated these steps to create five flowers.

For the mason jar, after tracing it and removing the top layer of the cardboard, I painted it with a cream color from Apple Barrel called Toasted Marshmallow. I hot glued the Tumbling Tower Game blocks to the back of the jar to elevate it from my surface.
I added some moss from Dollar Tree to the top of the jar, then the flowers and greenery. I made a messy bow with strips of fabric and added a rusty star to the top of it.

I used my Ranger Ground Espresso ink to scrub along the ridges of the jar to distress it a little and also on a little paper tag to make it look vintage. I put dots and “USA” on the tag and hot glued it on.

And we have a patriotic jar of flowers!

Leave a comment below and let me know how you might create a project with paper flowers! I appreciate each and every one of you.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
