Patriotic Flag Craft

Hey girl, hey! OOPS! I ordered flags from Amazon, thinking they were small and would work well with some upcoming projects, but they are really big! I decided to craft some “big” flags, and I’m loving how they turned out. My last “oops” was a tiny bottle of glue that was supposed to be a bigger bottle! Oh well, we work with what we’ve got, right?

Check out the video below, or follow along here for all the steps! Just be sure to read the measurements on those Amazon orders!

Supplies:

Amazon: Ranger Distress Oxide ink: Ground Espresso, wood stars, flags, rusty stars, Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Dollar Tree: Bandanas

Stash: Lace trim, ribbon, cotton ticking

Let’s make it!

I hot glued some muslin fabric to the back of my flag, then cut strips of a red bandana and a square from a blue one, added some lace trim and hot glued those onto the muslin.

TIP: There’s a pocket on the edge of the flag for the stick to go through. Try not to glue over that part.

I added buttons for the stars, and here’s the finished flag!

For the next one, I added the muslin like the one above, but on both sides of the flag so they can be displayed opposite one another. I used red and white striped cotton ticking for the stripes and blue for the square. I added rusty stars and wood stars, and stained the wooden ones with my Ranger Distress Oxide ink.

I added lace, and we’re done! It looks backwards just because I want it to hang opposite. See the next image to get the full effect! LOL!

See how they display opposite of one another? I’ll use them for centerpieces for a July 4 party! And you don’t have to have the actual flags, just use fabric, buttons, ribbons, whatever you have. It’s a fun and creative craft that can be made with things from your stash.

Here’s one I did “behind the scenes”. I really like the ribbon stripes and rusty stars!

I hope you enjoyed this craft! Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite. I appreciate each and every one of you!

Thanks for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
