Hey girl, hey! I created this project right after the eclipse! I’m in Washington state, so we didn’t get the full “totality” effect. Lizzy is in Texas and said it was awesome. Did y’all see it?
Let’s kick off some summer time crafts with a patriotic project! Check out the video below or follow along here for all the steps.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Sign, wood stars
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Amazon: Wood stars Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Hobby Lobby: America sign (but I decided not to use it once the project was finished!)
Stash: Ribbons, trim, burlap, buttons (Ribbons are from Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby and Michaels)
But first, let me introduce you to my pineapple plant! It was $17.97 at Walmart. My son Finn loves pineapples and he was just recently asking about how they grow. How cool is it that I ran across one at Walmart? I’m going to try to keep it alive. It’s just decorative and not edible, but he is still interested in watching it grow.

Back to the craft! I removed the 3D items from the surface by using my heat tool, but they really just popped right off.

I painted the surface with White Swan.

I trimmed my ribbons and decided how they would fit on the surface. You might need to trim them in half or thirds, just however looks good to you.
Next, I hot glued the strips onto the surface.
TIP: You can also use fabric strips!

Here’s how it’s going! I’m going to hang it like this, and I may decide to trim the bottom to match the surface… will see!

I decided to trim it straight across rather than follow the shape of my surface. It’s kinda “rough around the edges” shabby and I really like that look!

I added on various blue ribbons and rick rack around to define the square.
Then I added wood stars with white buttons on them.

For the back, I just hot glued my rope and secured each end with a strip of ribbon.

And here’s a fun flag for your summer decor!

I hope you enjoyed this project! It was fun and simple to make and I love the texture. Let me know in the comments if you saw the eclipse and where you were! I appreciate each and every one of you.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
