But hold everything! Y’all! How about a gingerbread village sneak peek? I plan to do a live on these over on Facebook and then here on the blog!

Let’s make it!
The first tree is simply three gold hats, with beads spacing them. I made these before my live video. I just added a skewer with beads (you’ll see this later here on the blog) and then added a base. I painted the wood pieces black.

Here are the wood pieces we’ll be using for our project today. I found mine at a thrift store, but there’s an Amazon link in the supply list.

Cut the little stretchy string from your party hat. (Do this for each “tree” you make)
For this tree, I used some green macrame cording from Michaels. I started at the bottom and simply hot glued each round until I reached the top.
TIP: You can also add tiny bells or anything “littles” that are festive! To make it a kid friendly craft (no hot glue) the kids can make these trees by painting or adding stickers to the hats.

To add ornaments to the tree, I used little pom poms from Dollar Tree and a star for the top. You can see in the images below that I put hot glue in the point of the hat, then added my skewer and a bead.
Then I added just a bit of hot glue further down the skewer to serve as a stopping point for the next set of beads, the ones you’ll see as the “trunk” of our tree.

A friend suggested trim on the bottom. I added a pom pom trim after I put the “trunk” and base on, but you may want to add your trim before.
It’s so cute, y’all!
TIP: Group several different “trees” together for your display!

For the next one, I’m using some birch wood looking paper ribbon from Dollar Tree.
I just cut little strips and curled them just a bit, then glued them on.
TIP: Our friends have suggested lots of things you can use to embellish your trees: buttons, beads, ruffled ribbon, feathers, textured cardboard (the center of corrugated cardboard) and more!

For the base: I just glued my skewer into the wooden candle cup and added my beads, making sure my skewer was straight.
Next, I used Waverly Antique Wax on the wood, and attached everything just like the green macrame corded one before: glue in the point of the hat, a support bead (I used a larger one this time) and then added the skewer. Be sure to have enough hot glue so the skewer will stay straight.
I think this is my favorite one! But we still have one more to make, so there’s that! LOL!

For the last one, I opened up one of the party hats and traced it onto my gift wrap.
I put a light layer of Mod Podge on the outside of the hat. (The white is paint I was playing with to see if I wanted to paint or not).
Mr. Erin brought me a shirt he had made for my birthday (and yes, he wore it!) and it has pictures of me all over it! It was so funny, y’all!
But back to the hat / tree. I curled the hat back into shape (it was kinda tricky and I actually had to staple it), then it was done! Except for the stand…

For the stand, I tried a few things but really liked this idea.
I used a tall tart pan / jello mould and hot glued a skewer on to it, then added beads. I needed the large bead at the top so the hat would be above the base.
I added a rusty star to the top, and we have a tree!

I hope y’all make these for yourselves! Don’t forget that it can be a fun family craft while the kids are home for the holidays.

I had so much fun making these, y’all! Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite. Mine is the birch tree one!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
