Hey y’all, hey! I’m back from vacation and ready to create. We went camping with friends nearby in Oregon, and girl, I rode on the sand dunes! It looked like I was on another planet with sand dunes all around and those monster hills got me!
Anyway, we are home doing laundry, cooking and cleaning, getting caught up with the “real” life stuff. Let’s make something beautiful! I saw these flowers on Pinterest and knew I had to make some. The thrifted frame and background are just the thing for a shabby project.
Check out the videos below or follow along here for all the steps!

Supplies:

Thrifted: Picture frame: (probably Goodwill Outlet Bins), wood background: (Habitat thrift store), hymnal
Dollar Tree: Metal plaque, greenery, Tumbling Tower Game blocks (like little Jenga blocks), moss
Costco: Glass tiramisu cups
Amazon: Waverly Antique Wax, Apple Barrel paint: Sky Blue Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: Twine / jute
Let’s make it!
Video #1:
I used thrifted wood for the surface. It’s super thin and I found it at Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store. I used scrap pieces of the wood to support the back.

I used hymnal sheets for my flowers but you can also use newspring or just color some paper if you want. Either way, they will be beautiful! I traced the top of the cup (from Costco: glass tiramisu dessert cup) onto the paper for my circles, (I didn’t count, just cut a bunch, y’all!) then layered each circle over the top of the cup, hot gluing to the previous one.

This is the same way people make those floral meat displays on charcuterie boards!

Just keep going until the flower looks full. Next, use some of the circles to put inside the center of the flower. Hold the circle like a taco, put it down into the center, then fold the end over and hot glue it.

The center finished, you’ll see a wide space in the flower that needs filling. Fold a circle in half, put hot glue into the space and set the halved circle into it. I used my closed scissors to open the half circles to better fill the flower. Repeat this step until it is full enough.

Now we have the second flower completed, so I’ll make one more and also some smaller ones.
TIP: Use a different size of cup to make smaller flowers to put in your arrangement.

I used Apple Barrel Sky Blue paint to put a weathered look over the wood background. I added a good bit of water to some of the paint to thin it down. It was too blue, so I used Waverly Antique Wax to add in some brown, then wiped it down with a wet paper towel. Next, I dried it with my heat tool.

Video #2:
I added smaller flowers, gathered some greenery and fillers, and we’re finishing up this beautiful craft! That metal piece is a sign from Dollar Tree. I’ll antique it a bit and it will serve as the planter for our flowers.

But wait! About those little flowers: our friends on the live suggested using a toilet paper roll to make smaller ones, and it worked! I used the size of the toilet paper roll to trace the circles, then cut the roll in half and just made them just like the glass version. They are so stinkin’ cute!
TIP: The small ones are 1 3/4″ around, but don’t get stuck on the size. You can make just small circles, medium and large ones if you want!

I used a paint pen to darken the metal. I drew on the edges and along the ridges, then used a paper towel to wipe and thin the paint over the metal. I used Tumbling Tower Game blocks from Dollar Tree to raise up the metal so it will look like the flowers are in a galvanized pot. I used E-6000 and hot glue to adhere the “pot” to the surface.
I also wrapped twine around the top and added a twine bow.
TIP: Place your flowers, greenery and metal on your surface to see where you want everything. I used a wood round to elevate one of the small flowers.

I added moss, glued the flowers and greenery to the surface, and we have beautiful, shabby decor!

Let me know in the comments if you have made paper flowers like these. I appreciate each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
