Let’s make it!

Before we get started though, how about this cute “vintage” looking Santa? It’s from Dollar Tree, y’all! He is just perfect to drive our sleigh!

What would it look like to order the complete Woodshop launch? Well, it would look like this!

Ok, for real now, let’s make it!

I started out by painting both sides of all parts of the reindeer. I placed them on the sticky side of some masking tape to keep them still while I’m painting and drying them. I used Waverly Antique Stain to paint them and then added some Folk Art metallic gold (Amazon link is in supply list above).

I painted the antlers with Faded Burlap and the sleigh with Marquee Red, and both paints are from Debi’s Design Diary at Milton’s Daughter (linked in supply list). Next, I sanded the sleigh parts just a little, and painted the runners black and gold.

I watered down a little bit of Waverly Antique Stain to add a color tone to the sleigh that will better match the santa I found at the Dollar Tree.

See those antlers? I love how they turned out! I just sanded them a little after painting and lightly staining them.

I used DAP Rapid Fuse glue to put the legs on the chest and rump parts, but you may want to just snap them on without glue so they will be easy to remove when you are ready to store them.

I finished it by gluing just some of the pieces together, leaving some to detach for storage, and here we are! Y’all pretend that the tree is not a Halloween tree, but a Christmas tree! I also added a little Dollar Tree lantern just for fun. I had to hurry to finish with what I had. That big green tree is actually a drink dispenser from Dollar Tree Plus and it smells weird. I’m not going to use it for serving, I’m going to remove the spout and add lights inside.

TIP: There are little holes to run a piece of twine or thin ribbon for reindeer reins.

This kit was so much fun to create with! I can’t wait to see it in my Christmas displays! Let me know in the comments how you might display yours. I appreciate all of your comments!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
