Merry & Bright Woodshop Release!

Hey girl, hey! Today we are making TWO projects from our July 2024 Woodshop launch! I went with a fun gingerbread vibe for the snowflakes and the pink and green for the “Merry and Bright” sign.

Check out the video below or follow along here for all the steps!

Here are the two stars of our blog today!

Supplies:

Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: Snowflakes and Merry & Bright

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Gypsy Green, Petticoat Pink, Kissing Booth (pink / plum)

Amazon: Apple Barrel paint: Cabana Stripe, DAP Rapid Fuse Glue, Deco Earth acrylic paint: white, sanding sponge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

But wait, y’all! It’s a whole launch for crafting fall and winter! I’ll be sharing more, so don’t miss a single video! Here’s our channel: Lizzy and Erin

Let’s make it!

I started by painting the base of the Merry & Bright sign white with Deco Earth acrylic paint, then dried it with my heat tool (I dry each piece, but you can set yours aside if you want). It took a few coats of the Deco Earth paint.

I painted the next layer with Debi’s Design Diary Gypsy Green, then sanded it just a bit. (Once I finished, I decided I would rather have used Debi’s Mint Chip so my sign would match my snowflake banner.)

The banner is painted with Debi’s Kissing Booth and then I mixed some Petticoat Pink with Kissing Booth (also from Debi’s Design Diary) for the word “Bright” and the ampersand (“&” symbol).

I painted the letters for the word “Merry” with the Deco Earth white.

TIPS: Be sure to paint the outside edges. Paint the pieces as you want! Use fun and whimsical colors like these, or go with traditional colors. Use something like masking or painters tape to hold your letters down for painting (I used this tip for the pieces of our snowflakes also). One of our friends suggested painting the base layer of “Bright” for a shadow, then slightly offset your top layer.

I used DAP Rapid Fuse glue (see my Amazon link in the supply list) to adhere the wood pieces, then clothespins to hold everything together until the glue is dry.

Let’s make the snowflake banner!

First, I placed the little pieces of the pink snowflake on my tape to paint them with the mix of Petticoat Pink and Kissing Booth. Next snowflake was in Cabana Stripe (green) and the next one white. (Mint Chip from Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint would look great for the green.)

I had some Easter beads and also some larger white beads so I placed three on each end and three on either side of the center. I tied a knot at the end of each set of beads so they will stay in place. (I left the base of the snowflakes natural, and they actually look like gingerbread!)

TIP: The holes are placed so you can have one snowflake on each end and one in the center. Just lay them out before stringing them together and you’ll see how they should line up.

By the way, when you visit our Lizzy and Erin Woodshop, you’ll see some new fall pieces in our launch! Some of my favorite colors to use for fall projects are: Gypsy Green, Summer Crush (orange) and Queen Bee (yellow). Check out Milton’s Daughter for these and more!

Well, these projects were fun AND simple! All you need is some paint, beads and twine, and BOOM, the rest is all done for you! Let me know in the comments what colors you might use to finish yours! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
