Making A Snowman From A Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign!

Hey y’all, hey! Today we are using a pumpkin sign to make a snowman! He is so stinkin’ cute, and will be the perfect greeter for your holiday visitors.

Check out the videos below for all the fun (there are two, one for the snowman, another for his crate of snowballs!) or you can follow along here!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Pumpkin trio sign, two wall tiles, rectangle wood surface, Tumbling Tower Game blocks, snowballs

Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan, Dark and Decrepit

Waverly Antique Wax (for crate)

Stash: Buttons, fabric strip for scarf, orange burlap for nose, little wired berries, greenery, felt leaves (from a Hobby Lobby garland), cinnamon sticks for arms, “all is calm, all is bright” tag, wood snowflake (maybe from Hobby Lobby), thin dowels (kinda like skewers)

Amazon: Craft sticks Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

But hey, let’s squirrel off for a moment! Girl, I just HAD to share these with you because they are so awesome. The ornaments are actually bowls from Dollar Tree, and that Iron Orchid Designs Christmas tree mould is from Milton’s Daughter. Click here to visit her page!

Let’s make it!

There are a couple of ways you can do your wall tiles. Either trace and then cut the entire shape (while the packaging is still on) with two tiles or you can cut a circle for each pumpkin.

TiP: Match your pattern. The two tiles worked for me!

There is adhesive on the wall tiles, but you’ll need extra. I used hot glue, but keep in mind the tiles can melt if they get too much heat on them. Just put your hot glue on, then position the tile where you want it.

TIP: You may need to give your edges a trimmy-trim and you might need to add a bit more glue along some of the edges.

I painted my snowman with Debi’s Design Diary White Swan paint. I dried it with my heat tool because it was a live video, but keep in mind the tiles will melt! Just keep your heat tool moving, or set aside to dry.

I made the hat with craft sticks. I lined them up together, then hot glued two craft sticks on the back for support. Then I added two wavy craft sticks for the brim, and I trimmed the top of the hat just a little to round off the edges.

I first painted it with Dark and Decrepit (black) and then white washed with White Swan. Then I spritzed it with water and wiped much of the white off. I went back and touched up the white wash here and there.

I added some little pieces to his hat; some berries, a felt leaf, a red button and some greenery.

I hot glued the hat onto the snowman, and reinforced the back with more glue.

I added a little piece of orange burlap for his nose, and buttons for his face and body.

Then I dry brushed just the edges of his snowflake with some Dark and Decrepit to make it pop a bit against the white.

To make the base, I used a wood craft rectangle from Dollar Tree and painted it just like the snowman’s hat. I added blocks to the back to help it stand. I’ll be adding the snowball crate to the front, so that will help keep it stable also.

I just hot glued two cinnamon sticks for each arm, then hot glued them on the back. I decided to add a strip of fabric to help support them. Y’all know if anyone ever looks at the back of your crafts, then they have got to GO, girl, they have got to GO! LOL!

Now for the crate!

First, I made a little tag so the snowman can sell his snowballs.

I cut my craft sticks to the same length, then used the thin dowels (like skewers) to support them. The sticks on the bottom of the crate were touching each other, while the ones for the sides had space in between (see 3rd image).

I used hot glue to adhere the sides and ends.

TIP: Be sure the ends of your sides are even so the end panels for the crate will line up correctly.

I painted the crate with Waverly Antique Wax and also painted most of the inside in case it showed through the snowballs. The areas that didn’t take the paint are where there is glue. I did a light coat of White Swan over the brown, and that covered the glue.

I just hot glued the snowballs into the crate.

And glued on the tag.

And I might just be in love with this snowman, y’all!

I hope you enjoyed this fun craft! Let me know in the comments if you have a pumpkin sign you might craft into a Christmas or winter decoration! I appreciate every comment, y’all.

Thans for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin

Love this idea! Any thoughts on how to transform one for a spring or summer design? I’m trying to envision a rabbit or…
    Thanks.
