Hey y’all, hey! Today I’m crafting with the latest release from the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop! I’m so excited about this collection! Check it out by clicking here!

Here’s the video, and you can also follow along on the blog to see how we created it!
Here is the Pecking Chicken from today’s video, and her friend the Standing Chicken. I made the Standing Chicken before this one so you could see them as a set.

Here’s what she looked like directly from the Woodshop!

Supplies:
Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: Pecking Chicken wood kit
Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Amazon: Sanding sponge, Mod Podge, DAP Rapid Fuse glue, Xacto knife, Posca paint pens Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: Napkins, scrapbook paper, tissue paper
Let’s make it!
Be sure to paint all of your pieces with a base coat. I suggest using white. I used tissue paper to make the feathers and the heart shaped wing.
I painted them with Mod Podge, then laid the tissue paper over the pieces, pressed them down with my hands and then trimmed the excess. Next, I sanded the edges to get the rest from the edges. I used a nail file for the tiny curves, and my sanding sponge for the rest.
I repeated these steps for all of the pieces using different papers and napkins.

Finn made some rules. I said I was cheating because I used a paint pen instead of actual painting with a brush, so he said, “Don’t give her ANY stars or likes because she cheated!” I had to let him in on the secret that we don’t have any rules here!
Y’all…my friends not only “liked” it, but they gave me stars! It cracked us up!

Then Momma Susie came by, followed by my son Wesley, and Mr. Erin went by on Wesley’s hoverboard! This is how it goes when you work from home y’all, shenanigans all day, every day!

Since it’s already crazy here, I’ll pause to share a project I created in Craftin’ and Laughin’ With Lizzy and Erin, our private subscription group. It’s one of my absolute favorite crafts. And I’m pointing to another one we did for Christmas.

Now back to the craft:
Here’s what the DAP Rapid Fuse looks like, except they messed up the packaging! It usually doesn’t cover the name.

Finn painted my surface for me with White Swan. There was a lot of paint, so I used my Xacto knife to cut through the paint so our shiplap lines would show. You can see the shiplap design in the supplies image.
Once the surface was ready, I used DAP Rapid Fuse to glue the frame on, then clothespins to hold it while it dried. DAP (or any super glue) is good for this type of application because it dries flat. Hot glue would be bulky.
DAP again for the chicken, and all of the pieces. I held the chicken outline down for a bit until the glue dried, then added my pieces, just like a puzzle.

Once the pieces were all in (and y’all, it was so much fun seeing it come together), I sanded the edges of the frame down a bit and painted the edges with my black Posca paint pen.

And girl, we have chickens! This was so much fun to create!

Before I go, here’s a preview of these adorable heart flowers, also from the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop. Just click on the picture to see all the new kits!

I hope you enjoyed this craft! Finn and I sure did. Let me know in the comments how you might create your chickens! You can use scrapbook paper, napkins, paint… whatever you wish.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate each and every one of you.
XOXO-Erin
