Supplies:

Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: Barn Quilt Snowflake

Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan, Carnival Red (bright), Red Marquee (barn red), Gypsy Green, Dark and Decrepit, Clear Wax

Amazon: Sanding sponge, DAP super glue Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Let’s make it!

The snowflake is engraved in the background so you’ll know just where to place it.

I put the little triangles together on painters tape so I could easily paint them. I used Carnival Red for them, and Red Marquee for the corners. The “arrow” shapes are Gypsy Green and the squares and edges are Dark and Decrepit (black), all are from Debi’s Design Diary.

I painted the snowflake with White Swan.

TIP: You don’t have to paint the sides of the pieces. They won’t be seen.

Then I sanded all the pieces.

TIP: Start with white and sand the red last, otherwise the red paint may leave color on the other pieces.

Once all the pieces were painted and sanded, I covered them with Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint Clear Wax.

I used DAP super glue to adhere the pieces to the surface. I have also used Gorilla super glue, and I like it just as well as the DAP. I did not use hot glue because it is thick and it would be lumpy under the pieces.

I placed the snowflake first, then built the “puzzle” around it.

TIP: Use clothespins to hold the pieces onto the surface until the glue dries.

I added the four frame pieces along the sides.

And here it is, with the frame pieces drying.

You can also make this by covering the pieces with scrapbook paper! It takes a bit longer, as you need to trace each piece, but it is just as pretty as the painted version. Click here to see the Barn Quilt New Year Arrow on the right, unpainted, and in our shop.

I am loving this new Woodshop release, y’all! Let me know in the comments what you think!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
