Let’s Make A Beautiful Vintage Valentines Day Heart!

Hey girl, hey! I am pretty excited about this project. Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog and see how this simple Dollar Tree heart sign became a vintage keepsake beauty!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Heart surface

Amazon: Sanding sponge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Stash: Vintage doo-dads, bingo cards, flowers, glitter

Hobby Lobby: “Hugs” sentiment, ribbon, conversation hearts, trim (from fabric section.)

Milton’s Daughter: Decoupage rice paper vintage girl, Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan

Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax

Here are some of the supplies! The vintage images came four to a sheet (rice paper) from Milton’s Daughter (link above), and the heart came from Dollar Tree.

Let’s make it!

I sanded down the heart, then painted it with White Swan from Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint. (You might want to put two coats.) Then I dried it with my heat tool, but you can use a blow dryer or just set yours aside to dry.

I think this napkin came from Tuesday Morning. It was a 3-ply, so I carefully separated them down to the top layer, and I will Mod Podge it onto the heart.

I painted over the White Swan with Mod Podge so our napkin will adhere to the surface. I smoothed the napkin on, then sanded the edges with a sanding sponge, and dried the napkin / Mod Podge.

This was my inspiration for this craft! It came from a Goodwill Outlets Bin, and the second image is actually the back side. I’ll use that because the front side (first image) is more vibrant and I’m going for the vintage look.

I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper and fabric pieces, and hot glue for wood items.

Now I’m just seeing where I want to place things. Doilies, vintage images, the Bingo card, flowers… just use what you’ve got, girl!

I added trim to this little heart.

Here’s how it’s going! I’m already loving it.

I used Waverly Antique Wax to distress and age the edges of the heart.

Then, I was thinking about putting this trim on the edge.

I decided it would work! I just hot glued it on.

Y’all! I love it! It’s so pretty.

Let me know in the comments what you think! I hope you will gather your supplies and make a pretty Valentine project that you will enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
