Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan

Let’s make it!

We will start with the door hanger.

I went simple with this one, just a white background and green letters. The white is Debi’s Design Diary White Swan from Milton’s Daughter and the green is Deco Earth Deep Forest. I placed my letters and tiny / skinny pieces on the sticky side of masking tape to make painting easier. You can see that the surface is engraved so you will have perfect placement of every piece.

Just plain ‘ole masking tape, y’all!

I painted the surface (and you can still see the engraving for placement of the pieces), then glued each piece with Stick Fast glue (see Amazon link).

I used a string of wood beads for my hanger. I tied a knot in the end and hot glued over the knot to keep it secure. I made little marks on the back where the ends should be glued.

Next, I used craft sticks and hot glue to adhere the hanger to the project.

Two colors of paint, a hanger and she’s perfect for greeting friends at my door!

Now for the Decorative Lamp Votive Holder!

I began by gluing the base together using Stick Fast glue. The base has four pieces and the ones with the cutouts go on the top where your votive light will go.

I painted the greenery with the Deco Earth Deep Forest green, the bird and berries with a red Posca Paint pen. I painted the lamp and the accent pieces black, sanded them a little and dry brushed white over all of the pieces then dried it with my heat tool.

And we have a finished project! I love this, and I even used a bigger battery operated candle and it works just fine!

TIP: Use a battery operated votive

Let me know in the comments which is your favorite from today’s Woodshop! I appreciate all of you!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
