And here’s the video:

Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: JOY shelf sitter

Stash: water based paints: red, white, black

Let’s make it!

There are 3 pieces to the base. One is solid, the other two have a groove in them.

I didn’t bother painting the solid one, as it goes on the bottom and won’t be seen. I painted the two with the groove with a black water based paint that I have in my stash.

See those little wood dots on the tape? I’ll explain that next!

The best way to paint teeny tiny things is to stick them onto some painter’s tape and paint them. This keeps them from moving around. I also dry mine while they are still on the tape, but you can set them aside to dry if you’d like.

I painted the snowman circle and the “JOY” background in white, then the J and the Y in red. The little nose is painted with Summer Crush from Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint.

I used DAP super glue to adhere the base pieces and also a clothespin to hold the layers together until they were dry.

TIP: You can use wood glue or hot glue. If using hot glue, just put the pieces together quickly so they will lie flat against one another. Hot glue can add thickness to the layers.

Placing the eyes and mouth is so easy! There are little indentions so you’ll know where the pieces go.

I added some snowflakes and a bow. The snowflakes are painted with Waverly Antique Wax and then dry brushed with white.

Does he need a little hat? Yes! Yes he does! This one is a scarecrow hat from the Dollar Tree.

I painted it black and added some green raffia and some little berries. This is so stinkin’ cute!

Y’all check out the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop and see what you can get crafty with! Let me know in the comments what is your favorite Woodshop kit!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
