January 2025 Woodshop Launch: Heart-Tac-Toe and XOXO Scalloped Signs

Hey girl, hey! Every month we launch a new set of Lizzy and Erin Woodshop projects just for you to paint and enjoy! Today we are crafting with the Heart-Tac-Toe Sign and the XOXO Scalloped Sign. The best part is, you can paint them any color you want! Give as a Valentine or keep them for yourself! Either way, I think you’ll enjoy making them your own.

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog for all the details, and you can also click on the images to see them in the Woodshop!

Supplies:

Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: XOXO Scalloped Sign, Heart-Tac-Toe sign

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: White Swan, Petticoat Pink, Letterpress Gray

Amazon: Black Posca Paint Pen, Bubble Gum (pink) Toolie Art Paint Pen, bead threader, sanding block, DAP Rapid Fuse glue, Xacto knife Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Stash: Beads, craft sticks

Let’s make it!

I had already painted the hearts on the Heart-Tac-Toe board with my Toolie Art Bubble Gum paint pen, so I started out by misting the bases with water to thin my White Swan paint down just a little. Then I painted both and dried them with my heat tool. Next, I sanded them down just a bit which made them super smooth!

I also used my Xacto knife to clear some of the paint from the etchings on the wood.

I used Letterpress Gray for the frame around both projects and sanded them a bit. And for the Heart-Tac-Toe, a black pen to outline the X’s and O’s. I used DAP Rapid Fuse glue to adhere the frames to my projects and clothespins to hold the edges until the glue dried.

TIP: Use a super glue like DAP instead of hot glue to avoid layers being lumpy and uneven.

After painting the frame with Letterpress Gray, I painted the XOXO letters on the Scalloped Sign with my black Posca Paint Pen, and the hearts with Debi’s Design Diary Petticoat Pink and Toolie Art Paint Pen in Bubble Gum. I sanded a little and glued them together.

I used clothespins to hold everything as I did before.

TIP: Be sure to paint the edges. Also, the frame for the XOXO has a specific placement so the scalloped edges will line up. Check your placement to be sure before gluing.

I added a beaded hanger using my bead threader for the XOXO Scalloped Sign, then added pieces of craft sticks over the knotted and glued ends for extra security.

Here are our finished projects, just perfect for a sweet Valentines! Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite! I appreciate each and every one of you.
