Hey y’all, hey! This is such a cute idea! I saw a post from Laura Jeannne on Facebook where she had created one, so I decided to craft one of my own. You might want to get supplies to make one for every season! I’m thinking Valentines, St. Pats, Easter, July 4, Halloween, a turkey for Thanksgiving, Christmas / Santa… maybe even a birthday theme!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Metal pail (spring / summer section), small candy jar with lid (party section), bunny feet, eggs, pipe cleaners (chenille stems), burlap (*note: You could use a flower pot for your base.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Mint Chip, White Swan, Petticoat Pink
Amazon: Mod Podge, UHU glue Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: Scrapbook paper, flower, greenery, bow
Hobby Lobby: Green striped ribbon
(I used plastic eggs instead of the jelly beans)
Let’s make it!
I removed stickers from the pail and the candy jar using my heat tool. The metal gets HOT, y’all! But the candy jar stickers peeled off without a problem!
Then I painted the pail with Mint Chip, dried it with my heat tool and sanded it enough to bring out some of the metal.

I painted the feet with White Swan, and Erica (our friend on the live video) suggested using scrapbook paper on the pads. First, I just cut circles and trimmed, but then I just put the feet under the paper and marked it with my fingernail. That worked! Next, I covered the feet with Mod Podge to adhere the paper. Once the paper was on, I painted over them again with Mod Podge. (I later added a little more pink to them.)

To make the ears, I just shaped the pipe cleaners and hot glued them to the burlap, then cut to the shape of the ears. I added pink to the centers with Petticoat Pink.
TIP: You could use pink fabric for the ears, shaping with the pipe cleaners.

The lid on my candy jar was clear plastic. I wasn’t sure my paint would adhere, so I painted a layer of Mod Podge first, then dried it with my heat tool. Next, I painted the inside and outside of the lid with Mint Chip. I used hot glue to attach the jar to the base.
I glued and pinched the ends of the ears together and folded one down just a bit, then hot glued them to the lid. I added a flower and some greenery in front of the ears, and used a super glue (UHU) to attach the feet. I also used hot glue so the feet would attach quicker since they were at an angle. Then I put a bow around the “neck”. To make the bow, I used wide ribbon and glue a narrower piece in the center. The wide ribbon helps to hide the business going on underneath it!
Of course, he needed a cottontail, so a little white pompom was just right.

TIP: Fill your jar with same color mints, pastel candies or jelly beans! I tried these jelly beans first, but the eggs were so cute I had to go with those!

And here she is! Add this one to your to-do list, y’all! She is stinkin’ adorable!

Let me know in the comments what might go in your gumball machine! I appreciate each of you!
