Hey y’all, hey! Want a simple project with a lot of WOW? I got you, girl! Today’s craft is festive and fun, easy to create and versatile enough that you can use what you have to create your own!
Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for all the steps!

Supplies:

Hobby Lobby: Gold metal leaf sheets
Dollar Tree: Cut tacks
Lowes or Home Depot: Five wood shims
Amazon: Rusty star, sanding block, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Thrifted: Fabric, lightweight gold wire, tacks
Let’s make it!
I laid five shims down to form a star shape, then hot glued the ends where they intersected. I also added some glue to the back for extra support.
I spritzed it with my water mister, then stained it with Waverly Antique Wax. You might want to paint yours before gluing it together.
Tip: If you want to use this on your door, use E6000 or Rapid Fuse (super) glue to assemble the star. Hot glue will release when it gets hot again, so you’ll need a more permanent glue.

Putting the gold leaf on is easy, y’all! I just dabbed on some Mod Podge and laid the gold leaf pieces over it. I didn’t cover the entire star, just added enough gold for a weathered / primitive look.

I hot glued strips of fabric in red, white and blue, then trimmed the ends. The strips don’t have to be exactly even, just trim enough that they are close to similar lengths.

For the bow, I just laid several strips of fabric in an X shape, then used twine to tie them together.

I had a rusty star (from Amazon, see link in supplies list) and I just brushed on some White Swan from Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint, then sanded it a bit and added it to the center of my bow. I like how it turned out!

I added greenery and some berry garland to the star and topped it with my bow.
For the hanger, I hammered in two tacks, one on each side, then just twisted some crafting wire (it’s just a lightweight wire that is easy to bend) and boom! We have a finished project!

I hope you enjoyed this craft and maybe make one of your own! Let me know in the comments what you think. I appreciate each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
