Farm Fresh Corn Decor

Hey y’all, hey! Today we are crafting with the metal corn stalks from Dollar Tree. Come hang out on our video (see below) or follow along here on the blog!

Supplies:

Lowes: Wood paneling (for surface)

Harbor Freight: Mini table saw

Stash: Fabric (from Hobby Lobby a few years ago), hymnal sheet, greenery, raffia

Dollar Tree: Metal corn, “Farm Fresh” wood words

Thrifted: Bedspring

Let’s make it!

About these wood planks: They are from Lowes, and I got them on clearance. They were regularly priced at over $30 and I got them for only six bucks! They are super lightweight, and they cut easily with my mini table saw from Harbor Freight (linked in supply list), AND they are really pretty!

I laid two planks together and hot glued craft sticks to secure them. Then I stapled the bed spring on and added hot glue to keep them in place.

TIP: Hammer in the staples if they don’t go in flush with your spring.

TIP: Bed springs are sometimes hard to find, but you can make your own using a bendable wire!

Next, I just made a cone from my hymnal sheets. I used three sheets and hot glued them together, then formed a cone shape.

The corn stalks are metal, and pretty simple to bend and break the stems to fit the cone. I did use my metal shears to cut one, and I recommend safety glasses.

Once I had the length I wanted, I just hot glued the corn onto the surface.

TIP: If you don’t have music sheets, just print some and trim. You can also make a copy of your hymnal sheets or other music and use that.

Now that the corn is where I wanted it, I added greenery and also a strip of fabric tied into a bow.

Then I made a simple hanger: just twist a length of fabric into a rope, tie knots on the ends (I used three knots) and hot glue them on.

TIP: My stems were showing just a bit through the end of my cone. I formed another smaller cone, trimmed it down, and put it through the bottom of the spring to fit over the end of the original cone. We can fix anything, y’all!

To finish, I added “Farm Fresh” wood words from Dollar Tree, and look how stinkin’ cute it turned out!

XOXO-Erin
