Fall Pumpkin From Trash To Treasure

Hey y’all, hey! I had actually put this rocking chair seat into the fire pit, waiting on the next burn day, when Lizzy said I needed to turn it into a pumpkin! Suddenly, I saw it! I took it out of the pit and created this adorable pumpkin for my front porch. How long will it last? I don’t know but I’m going to enjoy it there until it falls apart!

I’ve made two other projects this week with spindles from the rocking chair, and you can check them out here and here!

Check out the video below, or follow along here on the blog to see how it all came together.

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi”s Design Diary DIY Paint: Summer Crush, Gypsy Green, White Wax, Clear Wax

Lizzy and Erin Designs: Custom paint brushes

Saved from the trash: Rocking chair seat

Hobby Lobby: Fabric

Dollar Tree: Greenery, rope

Let’s make it!

I started out painting the white wax onto the chair seat. I didn’t have much of it, so I added in the clear wax to help distribute it. I used my custom Lizzy and Erin paint brush to paint the front and the inside of the back.

I used Dollar Tree rope for the stem. I just cut several pieces, hot glued them one at a time and twisted them into the stem shape.

I used hot glue to add the stem to the pumpkin, but if you want to display yours outside, you’ll need a more permanent glue such as E6000.

I painted the greenery with Gypsy Green because the leaves were almost a lime green. Next, I made a couple of bows and stacked them with raffia, and hot glued them to the stem. I added the leaves last, and just tucked them in where they fit best.

Our friends and I agreed (on the live video) that we needed some orange. I used Summer Crush, and just watered it down a bit and then lightly painted it on, then dried it with my heat tool.

TIP: Be sure to paint the sides.

And y’all! We have a primitive pumpkin! This trash-to-treasure pumpkin will be a great part of any fall display!

Let me know in the comments what you think! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
