Fall Flower Box Decor

Hey y’all, hey! My friend Stephanie made this first, and it was a beautiful July 4 centerpiece with all kinds of patriotic picks. I loved it so much that I wanted to make one for fall! I have already packed it away with my fourth of July decor or I’d feature her awesome design here.

Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for all the steps. You might just want to make one for every season!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Patriotic signs, picture frame, small wood cubes, floral foam

Amazon: Ranger Distress Oxide Ground Espresso ink, Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Gypsy Green, Faded Burlap, White Swan

Let’s make it!

We will start by making the box!

I separated the panels from the patriotic decor and removed pieces from the backs. I used the back sides so I didn’t have to sand all the glitter off the fronts. I painted the panels with Gypsy Green from Milton’s Daughter and Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint and dried them with my heat tool. You can see in the images below how it gets lighter as it dries.

TIP: Paint the edges of your panels with the same color.

Next, I sanded the edges of each panel to distress it a little, then began sanding the frame and hot gluing the panels to it.

I decided to add stripes, so I used masking tape to define the lines. Before I painted the Faded Burlap (cream color) stripes, I added wood cubes where the panels met at the top, just to add some extra security.

The stripes had a bit of a purple tint, so I dry brushed a little White Swan over them and also over the edges of each panel.

I sanded the panels and swiped my Ranger Distress Oxide ink pad in Ground Espresso to distress them a little.

Let’s do the flowers!

I added floral foam to the box with hot glue, then began making five flowers. I cut several sizes of circles from burlap, paper (crumpled after I cut them) and fabric. I frayed the edges of the fabric ones, then just stacked alternating the materials, hot glued them together and added a button for the centers.

I used craft sticks for the stems but only because I didn’t have skewers, y’all! It will be fine, just fine.

TIP: Fray the burlap, stack a small button on a larger one, use green twisted raffia paper ribbon for leaves. You can also use coffee filters, cupcake liners or other things to make your flowers.

We are going to use what we’ve got, y’all! I dug out all of these from my stash.

I added the flowers, some raffia and a button on the front and we have a beautiful fall centerpiece!

Here’s one we made last year, using a new, empty paint can from the thrift store. You may be able to access the video by clicking HERE.

Let me know in the comments what you think of our craft today! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
