Hey y’all, hey! I love, love, LOVE these fabric flowers! We have a blog post featuring a big fabric flower with all the steps to create one… just click HERE to see it! But don’t miss out on today’s project, just follow along here on the blog or check out the video link HERE for all the details.

Stash: Spindles, raffia, berry garland, ribbon, fabric, burlap, lace, corrugated (rippled inside layers) cardboard, and hymnal sheets. (You can use any type of music sheets if you don’t have an old hymnal.)
Amazon: Sanding sponge, Ranger Distress Oxide: Ground Espresso, Mod Podge, Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Let’s make it!
We are going to turn some junk into ART! We will start with spindles I rescued from an old rocking chair, a sign from the Dollar Tree (from maybe a year or two ago!) and some cardboard. How easy, right?

That cardboard, y’all: all you need is some corrugated cardboard (corrugated means it has the ripples sandwiched in between the two outer pieces). Just spritz one side with water and wait a few minutes, then you can peel the layer off, leaving the rippled part on the outside!

I used hymnal sheets for the base, and pasted them on with Mod Podge, sanded the edges and then dried it with my heat tool.
Next, used my Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Oxide ink pad (Ground Espresso) to distress / antique it. I just used my paintbrush to apply the ink, then dipped my brush in a tiny bit of water to distribute some of the ink further onto the music sheets.
TIP: You can use any kind of music sheet. I have old hymnals just for crafting, but you can use printed sheets from the Internet, old piano music sheets, whatever you can find! You can also copy your hymnal sheets and use the copies for your background.

I used a damp paper towel to move some more of the ink just around the edges. The flowers and flower pot will cover the middle.

To make your flowers, fold the fabric (ribbon, burlap, whatever you have), cut a folded piece with a pointed end so when you open it, it looks like the image in the first picture (below). Fold it, then pinch the end of each petal and just hot glue it to form a petal shape. (Careful! That glue is hot!)

I used a large wood round for my flower base and a small one for the centers, but use what you have, girl!
I staggered my leaves, starting from the outside going in, altering colors and patterns on each round. I also glued a few to the back of the wood round to make a fuller outside layer. Nothing is glued down yet!

I added pieces of wired berry garland by twisting them on a paint brush handle, then hot gluing them to the surface. I added raffia and then two of the spindles from that old rocking chair!

To add the flowers, I put small wood cubes under the left one to raise it up a little, then glued it to the surface. The one on the right side just tucked under the other one.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide to antique the cardboard flower pot. (This is the same ink I used for the hymnal sheets as shown earlier in this blog post.) I just scrubbed it along the ridges and outside edges of my cardboard.

I added lace to the top and bottom of the flower pot and glued it onto the surface. It’s so stinkin’ cute!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever made fabric flowers! I appreciate each and every comment.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
