Fabric Christmas Poinsettia

Hey y’all, hey! Today we are making a beautiful poinsettia from scraps of fabric! Music sheets, silver berries and a “Joy to the World” sentiment make this just as pretty as can be for Christmas decor. We made similar flowers a while back, and you can click HERE to see that blog post!

Check out the video below or follow along here for all the details!

Supplies:

Lizzy and Erin Store: 11X14 “Home for the Holidays” sign (Dollar Tree surface or any other will do!)

Thrifted: Hymnal

Stash: Large wired silver berries, a square of muslin, burlap

Amazon: Mod Podge, Rub ‘n Buff Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Milton’s Daughter: IOD Letterpress stamps

Let’s make it!

I painted Mod Podge onto the surface, placed my hymnal sheets and covered them with another layer of Mod Podge. I dried it with my heat tool.

I used fabrics from a placemat, a ribbon and also some cotton ticking and just cut them out in a gnome hat shaped triangle. It’s not a perfect triangle, just wider at the bottom. I made different sizes, with some being larger than others.

I put hot glue on the back side of the straight edge (bottom) and folded the front toward the back. (See 3rd image). Next, I added a dab of glue to the right (front) side and pinched the edges together. You can see the petal shape forming!

Y’all can see also these fabric flowers with a fall theme on a previous blog post. Click HERE to check it out!

I glued four together at a time, connecting them on the pinched end, alternating fabrics / patterns. I glued four sets of four petals on the surface, then added more underneath. I just kept adding more petals until I was happy with the fullness of the flower.

I cut a piece of thrifted muslin fabric and stamped it with black ink and IOD Letterpress stamps. I also cut a piece of burlap to place behind the muslin, hot glued them together, then hot glued them to my surface.

Finally, I put just a little Rub ‘n Buff around the edge to give it just a little shimmer.

I think this turned out gorgeous, y’all! Click here for the link to the previous blog where we made fabric flowers!

Let me know in the comments what you think of today’s project! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
