Let’s dress up this $5 snowman I found at the Habitat for Humanity Restore! The video is below, and you can also follow along here on my blog!
Here he is all finished and ready for Christmas! Let’s see how he came together.

This cute guy has been hanging out on my hearth for a little while, and he looked so cold! I decided he needed a scarf and hat! This is how he looked when I brought him home:

Those eyes! It was almost creepy, but it was just the ring light reflecting on his button eyes!

Here are the supplies I used:
Habitat for Humanity: $5 wooden snowman
Walmart: Craft Sticks, ric rac
Dollar Tree: Black chalkboard paint, sanding sponge, sprigs from Christmas picks
Michaels: Gingham ribbon from grab bags
Thrifted: Burlap ribbon
Stash: Mini snowflakes, larger snowflakes

I began by making his hat.
Craft sticks are great for this! I just cut them down to the size I thought would look good on him, then glued one stick on the back for support.
Then I glued another for the brim.

Then I sanded the edges.

Dollar Tree chalkboard paint was perfect for this. I painted the hat, then sanded a bit to get a weathered and worn finish.

I then added some trim to the hat using some burlap ribbon and ric rac. I also added the sprigs of a Christmas pick and later, some red berries and snowflakes.

His scarf is sure to keep him warm this winter! I just tied it on and added some embellishments to make it even more fun. A friend suggested fringing the bottom, and I love how it turned out!

Then another friend said to add glasses! He’s so cute, even with his crazy ring light eyes!

Here’s the finished snowman. He is all dressed and ready for the very next snowfall!

I’d love to hear what you think of this project! Let me know in the comments. I appreciate each and every one!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
