Hey y’all, hey! This simple, rustic Christmas tree was fun to make, and will fit pretty much any Christmas decor. Check out the video below, or follow along here for the steps.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: off white fabric, wood box, witch hat wire wreath form
Walmart: 3/4″ X 12″ Dowel, Waverly Antique Wax
Stash: white paint
Amazon: Rusty star Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: Red ticking fabric
Let’s make it!
This Dollar Tree metal witch hat frame is just right for a Christmas tree. I simply cut the edges and the bottom off. You can probably twist it off, but for the sake of time, I cut mine.
Next, I laid the fabric down and cut it to fit.

This little wood box came from Dollar Tree, and the dowel was in a three pack from Walmart. My son Wesley helped me by drilling a hole big enough for the dowel to go through. Although I like the original wood, I decided to paint it with my Waverly Antique Wax.

A lot of things went on here, y’all. In order to get the dowel to stay in place, I used zip ties and also staples. There’s a staple where the top of the dowel meets the metal. You’ll also notice paint sticks and large craft sticks. They are hot glued on.
Once the structure was stable, I began gluing the fabrics on by folding in the edge.
TIP: You can also glue or sew right sides together, turn fabric right-side out,, and place over the metal form, but keep in mind it’s more of an exact fit.
TIP: Stuff your tree with plastic bags or fiber fill.

I hot glued the dowel to the inside of the box.

I painted my star and sanded it just a bit for a rustic look.

And here we are! Although I changed some steps along the way (you can see what I tried in the video above), I enjoyed making this simple design! It will be a great addition to my Christmas display!

By the way, you can also use these double sided placemats from Dollar Tree. Just pull the layers apart, open the sides and bottom, trim to fit and follow the steps above!

Let me know in the comments below if you might make one of your own! How will it be different? I’m always appreciative of each and every one of your comments.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
