Dollar Tree Gift Boxes Christmas Decor

Hey girl, hey! We have a two-parter for you today! How about a country quilted stack of gifts to display under your tree? I cut pieces of a thrifted quilt top and covered Dollar Tree stackable gift boxes, and I am loving the results! And I made it for Christmas, but it would also be a great decoration for a birthday, a baby shower or photography prop!

Check out the videos below or follow along here on the blog to see all the steps. And if you love baby chickens, you’ll want to see the video! We have five new babies!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Stackable presents (you could use just boxes!)

Amazon: Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Goodwill Outlet Bins: Quilt top (you don’t have to have fabric, you could use scrapbook paper!)

Stash: Burlap

Let’s make it!

The presents are the stackable ones from Dollar Tree. I cut 12 pieces from the quilt top. Mine have nine small squares in each piece. You could use scrapbook paper or contact paper, think out of the box!

I took the bow off the top present and I thought I might have to cut it off, but it is attached with a little plastic screw. It was easy to remove.

I spray painted the boxes white so the colors wouldn’t show through the thin quilt pieces. Next, I placed the quilt squares over the edges of the presents. I’ll use trim to fill in where the ribbon would go.

I tried Loctite for gluing, but ended up using hot glue to adhere the fabric to the presents. There are some gaps that I filled with strips from the quilt backing. Our friend Hannah suggested using some of the strips over burlap for the ribbon… so yes, that’s a great idea!

I just put hot glue on and laid the fabric along the gaps, added burlap to the ribbon parts and folded the strips for the ribbon to create a finished edge.

I hot glued them together, and pressed on the top to make sure they all stuck. Then I put the bow back on, and yes, I should have done that before I glued them! Add the bow before gluing, girl!

Something else came from this quilt top! I don’t sew, y’all, but I made this stocking in our private subscription group called Craftin’ and Laughin. I actually used the sewing machine, and even though our friends helped and I had to call my husband Dave to assist, it turned out so cute!

THEN I had to play with the sewing machine some more and I made this! I just bought a sweater with a quilted panel, so I’m thinking I can put it on a shirt… with Dave’s help! And I have 18 pieces left, so I’m excited to sew and craft with them again!

And here’s our cozy Christmas decor!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve crafted with quilt pieces! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
