Dollar Tree Banners Turned Christmas Tree!

Hey y’all, hey! Today we are crafting with the Dollar Tree flag banners and we’re going to turn them into beautiful Christmas trees! You don’t have to buy high end decor when all you need are some paper banners, some paint and maybe some “other stuff” to create them to fit your style.

Check out the video below or follow along here for all the steps!

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Gypsy Green, White Swan, Pentart Ice Crystal pen

Amazon: Rusty stars, Ranger Distress Oxide Ground Espresso ink, Rub n Buff Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Dollar Tree: Package of flag banners (10 in each pack, party section), makeup sponge

Goodwill Outlet Bins: porcelain doorknob

Stash: Shish kebab skewers (use a dowel if you have one!), wood spool, scrapbook paper

Let’s make it!

But wait! Check out these Lego flowers! I made them last night. Did y’all know we can make Lego flowers? Click here to see them in my Amazon shop:

Now back to our craft!

You may have to poke out some of the cutouts in your banner pieces, but it is what it is, girl! Three banners were just the right amount for my tree shape, so you can get three trees from one pack. I used a makeup sponge to paint the front of the first tree Gypsy Green from Milton’s Daughter and Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint. I started out painting both sides, but it’s not necessary since the backs will be glued together.

Next, I dried them with my heat tool and added some glitter to the edges with my Pentart Ice Crystal pen from Milton’s Daughter.

I didn’t have a “real” dowel, so I used hot glue to add them to a “shish kebab” dowel. Use what you’ve got, girl!

I used my Ranger Distress Oxide Ground Espresso ink pad to antique the edges of the tree and to color the dowel and spool brown. I added a strip of some checked scrapbook paper around the spool to make it pop!

I used my ink pad for the second tree, just scrubbed and dabbed the ink onto the banner, and then added some gold Rub n Buff to the edges. I glued them together and then glued the tree onto a dowel and used the doorknob as my base.

I added rusty stars to the tops and we’re done! This was a fun craft, y’all, and it would be great for a crafting night with friends!

Let me know in the comments if you might try this banner-turned-Christmas-Tree project! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by

XOXO-Erin
