Hey girl, hey! So we made THIS swinging ghost last week, inspired by the viral one all over Tik Tok, but I think we can make it better than our last one. I mean, she needs to be holding on to that swing, right? And maybe she needs to light up! Let’s see….
Meanwhile, check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for steps to make your own!

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Dark and Decrepit
Lizzy and Erin Designs: Custom Lil Hickabilly paint brush
Dollar Tree: Fall theme wired bud garland, Tumbling Tower Game blocks (like little Jenga)
Amazon: Waverly Antique Wax Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: sticks, jute, craft sticks, popsicle sticks
Thrifted: Muslin cut into strips
Let’s make it!
I painted my surface black with Dark and Decrepit, then dry brushed white to give it a seasoned chalkboard look. You can see a white spot in the center, and that’s a hole I made to string lights through! It’s gonna be so cute!
I used hot glue to add the branches.

The ghost: I cut a ghost shape (with arms, y’all!) out of a mailer I recieved. It’s like thick cardstock, and we will use that as our foundation. The arms, shoulders and head are reinforced with a pipe cleaner so we can move them. (I only had a pink one, so you can use a white one or paint what you have.) I also cut strips of muslin for the ghost and hot glued it to the cardstock ghost, starting at the bottom and working my way up.
I draped longer strips over the arms to make them flow.

I used craft sticks and popsicle sticks to make my swing then stained it with Waverly Antique Wax, and dried it with my heat tool.
I precut two strands of jute to hold the swing and put knots in the end to thread through the slats.

The lights! I made that hole in the surface to string my lights through. I hot glued the battery pack on the back, and just pulled them through the hole. I hot glued the string all over the back of my ghost.
TIP: Check your lights to be sure they work before installing them in your project.

I hot glued two Tumbling Tower Game blocks to the swing; one to anchor the swing to the surface, the other on top of the swing to support the ghost. Next, I hot glued the swing to the surface and hot glued the ghost onto the project. I added greenery and then tied knots in the top of my jute and hot glued the ends to the branch. I curled her “hands” to hold the swing, and all we need now are some eyes and turn the lights out to see her glow!

I added eyes by painting a piece of paper, then cutting out the shapes and hot gluing them to the ghost. Use what you have, girl!

Which swinging ghost do you like better? This one or that one? Let me know in the comments! I appreciate each and every one of you!
