Hey y’all, hey! This project is going to take just a bit of time, so check out the videos below! I’m using mostly Dollar Tree items to make this fun spring basket of coneflowers. I saw something similar on Pinterest and wanted to make some.
Videos are below, and you can also check out the steps on this blog. It’s so fun to create, especially as the weather is so nice and we are so over the winter chills!

Supplies:

Stash: Old spindles from a rocking chair (they are slightly different heights).
Lowes / Home Depot: Small wood shims
Walmart: Baubles on stems (got at Christmas)
Dollar Tree: Halloween sign, aluminum cooking sheet, reindeer moss
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Gypsy Green, Mint Chip, White Swan
Amazon: Ranger Distress Oxide ink in Ground Espresso, Mod Podge, Deco Earth paint: lavender and yellow Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Before we get started, I’d like to introduce you to my porch goose, Lucy. She’s got outfits, so here’s a preview! I’m thinking she needs a buh-keenie for summer…

Let’s make it!
I painted Mod Podge onto the aluminum cooking sheet and cut leaf / petal shapes from the sheets. You have to be careful because the aluminum is sharp! I started out by using tissue paper to cover them, but it wouldn’t stay on so I omitted that step altogether and just went with paint!
My husband Dave helped me by putting a piece of wood inside the halloween sign and screwed the spindles into it.
I used Deco Earth lavender paint for the first flower.

I painted the small shims and then cut them down for fence planks. I’ll use the leftover pieces in a few moments. I used long staples to put the shims on the sides and left the shims a little wonky so the flowers and stems can be the stars of the show!
I used my hot glue to add reindeer moss from Dollar Tree to fill the inside of our fence.

I decided to paint the stems after they were already screwed in! It’s ok, it’s all ok! Maybe do this before attaching the stems! And y’all know I love some rustic, so I sanded them just a bit. Then I stapled the leaves to a wood round to make the flower and then stapled the flower to the stem.

I used my Ranger Distress Oxide Ink pad in Ground Espresso to add some rustic touches to the fence posts.

I painted both sides of the leftover pieces from the fence slats and added some rustic with my Distress Oxide ink pad, then hot glued them on.

Next, we will paint these leaves / petals. I’m loving the colors!

Once the painting was done, I sanded them just a little and used my ink pad to make them rustic. Next, I made the other two flowers the same as earlier (wood round, staples) and curled the leaves / petals just a bit.

Our friends suggested I use an Easter egg for the centers. I painted three and hot glued them on. I added a yellow ribbon around the basket and glued the flowers onto the stems.

And we have some DIY coneflowers for spring!

Let me know in the comments what you’re crafting for spring! I appreciate each and every one of you.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
