Supplies:

Lowes or Home Depot: Garden stakes
Amazon: Posca paint pens Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Dollar Tree: Wood crate, moss
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Michaels Grab Bag: Carrots (from last year, but you can find similar ones at Dollar Tree now.)
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint White Swan, Letterpress stamps
Stash: Thrifted floral foam, fabrics, alphabet stamps (from Hobby Lobby or Michaels) but Milton’s Daughter has them also here!
Let’s make it!
These are the garden stakes you can find at Lowes or Home Depot (or other home improvement stores). They are 1″ X 2″ X 12″ and this bundle had 12 in it.
I just laid them out with just a bit of space in between each one, then hot glued craft sticks to them. The back of the project got two craft sticks, then I flipped it over and put one more on the top of the project.
The little wood crate is from Dollar Tree, and we are going to “plant” our carrots in it. We’re making a cute carrot patch, y’all!

Tip: You can get a very similar look by using one of Dollar Tree signs like this one as an alternate. You can leave the flowers, but remove the watering can if you want the carrots to be the star of the show! (The watering can would work with a future spring project!)

I spritzed the wood before painting with Waverly Antique Wax. Then I just put the antique wax on sparingly because I’m going to cover it with White Swan. I dried it with my heat tool in between the wax and the white coat.
TIP: You can use any brown paint, just water it down some!

I did the same technique with the crate. Brown, then white…
Then I sanded the picket fence and the crate down just enough to show some of the brown beneath the white.

Next, I attached the crate to the fence with hot glue.

I found these stamps at either Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but you can also get them at Milton’s Daughter (just click here)
I stamped “Every Bunny Welcome” on the slats of the crate.

Adding moss and carrots: I glued in extra scrap pieces of floral foam to fill in the crate, then hot glued moss to cover it. I also added moss to the crate ends because there are openings there.
I used skewers to add the carrots, just so they would be secure.

Our friends on my live suggested I put a bunny tail on the front, so I used my Posca pens to paint little feet, but they were bright pink. So, I used Petticoat Pink over the Posca paint, then fiddled a bit with it and the Posca pen until I got a more pastel and also shadowed effect.

My friends on the live suggested a bunny tail, so I used strips of fabric to make a pom pom, trimmed it down, and here it is! The larger picture shows how cute and fluffy it would be with the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop Pompom Maker Kit. (Click here to see it in our shop!) I didn’t have mine at the craft table, but it really makes a perfect pompom!

I like it, y’all! It’s so stinkin’ cute, and will be perfect as a shelf sitter.

Let me know in the comments what you think! I hope you’re inspired to try a fun craft like this one. I appreciate every one of you!
Thanks for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
