Coffee Filter Flowers For Spring

Hey girl, hey! I am so ready for spring. I want to get out of the dreary winter and into the boat and cruise around the lake! But until those spring days arrive, we can bring some beauty indoors with this craft. It’s fun and creative, and I hope you’ll try it too!

Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for all the details.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: 11 X 14 Artist canvas, Mason jar sign, tempura spray craft paint (came from my stash, you can use regular paint), polka dot burlap fabric, greenery, wood cubes

Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Mint Chip

Amazon: Sanding sponge, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Lowes or Home Depot: large shims

Stash: Coffee filters, raffia, scrapbook paper

Let’s make it!

These coffee filters are going to be fun to create our flowers with!

I used hot glue to add shims to the canvas, then spritzed the shims with water. Water helps the paint to go on to the raw wood better.

Next, I painted them with Mint Chip from Debi’s Design Diary and then lightly sanded. Y’all, I love this mint color!

For the jar, I just traced it out on my gray checked scrapbook paper, cut it out and used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the jar.

I spritzed the coffee filters with the light pink and then with the darker. I used my heat gun to dry them, flipped them over and dried some more.

TIP: You can use just about any water based paint in a spray bottle from the craft store. Just water it down so it won’t get clogged.

I scrunched and layered the pieces, folded them like a taco, then folded again and pinched the end.

Then I wrapped twine around the pinched part, tied a knot and hot glued it. The last image here is of just the coffee filters without the burlap, and it’s beautiful either way!

TIP: Just fluff it until you love it! No need to overthink it, girl!

Here’s a closeup of the end. I just tied my twine around the pinched part and hot glued it.

This flower used three coffee filters and one burlap circle.

TIP: You can use three, four or more coffee filters, you can also use cupcake liners to make your flowers. As long as they scrunch, you’re in business!

I used these cubes from Dollar Tree to raise up the jar. The cubes are a little thicker than the Tumbling Tower game blocks (those are like little Jenga blocks).

I just hot glued my flowers onto the surface, added the greenery and raffia, and ba-da-bing! She’s gorgeous, y’all!

TIP: You can add a twine or beaded hanger or just display it on a stand like this!

I hope y’all enjoyed this craft! It sure was fun to make. Let me know in the comments what you think of it! I appreciate each and every comment!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
